Went close at Stratford five weeks ago but ran a shocker a fortnight later, pulling up when well behind at Worcester. Has something to prove given that poor run but can't be ruled out despite top weight in a modest event.
Looking for hsi 10th career win but hasn't been on the scoresheet since December 2015. Has been eased 12lb since returning to action in August but has shown precious little and, while well handicapped on old form, looks a risky proposition.
Won over C&D in December last year off 2lb lower mark but has failed to complete in all three starts since, pulling up twice. Wind op doesn't appear to have helped on that evidence so may struggle again.
Listed bumper winner way back when but hasn't scored over obstacles in nearly five years of trying. 16lb lower than last chase mark but has never tried this trip and stamina may be found wanting.
0-21 over fences and ran porly recently at Hexham. Has gone well here though in the past so is not completely out of it if the return to Rollestone prompts a change of heart.
Stays well and scored over 3m2f at Newton Abbot in August. Has found life tough since in two starts off higher marks, but wasn't disgraced last time and may be too far away for an in-form yard.
Career tally of just 1-43, but has had only two goes at chasing and lost out by only a neck last time at Warwick 2m4f. Further to travel here and4lb higher but is in decent nick and shouldn't be far away.
1-23 over hurdles and has failed to complete in two attempts over fences, not looking a natural chaser. Pulled up over hurdles here last time and is very hard to recommend.
Won maiden open point-to-point in April for previous handler but looked paceless when fifith at Fontwell over fences last time. Wears first-time visor.
Yet to reach a place in nine starts to date and was beaten a very long way on chasing debut at Plumpton a few weeks ago. Massive improvement needed if he is to play a meaningful part.
0-53 to date, including 10 races over fences. Races here from 2lb out of the handicap and while he should finish in his own time he is most unlikely to trouble the judge.
Forecasts
Mariners Moon (9/2), Presenting Berkley (5/1), Corner Creek (11/2), Shaiyzar (6/1), Torhousemuir (7/1), Kovera (15/2), Waltz Darling (8/1), The Lion Man (14/1), Seven Nation Army (16/1), Chasing Headlights (33/1), L'Es Fremantle (66/1)
MARINERS MOON may be good enough if he sees out this new trip. He put up an improved display when a close second at Warwick last time and in a race of mainly disappointing horses has to have a decent chance. Top weight Torhousemuir blotted his copybook last time but on his previous three efforts has to be respected, while Presenting Berkley will stay and represents a yard going great guns at the moment. Shaiyzar and Waltz Darling are others with a squeak if in the mood.
- Mariners Moon
- Presenting Berkley
- Torhousemuir
