Faded tamely at Worcester last time over 2m4f and appeared not to stay. Better judged on previous effort over this C&D when close third in race that has worked out fairly well. Solid chance.

Returns from near 5-month break having run with credit over timber last spring, winning at Market Rasen in April. Chase debut here and is sure to have been well schooled but may be better for the outing.

Yard in tremendous form at moment with 44% winning strike rate. Made successful chasing bow when scoring with a bit to spare at Huntingdon last week and may be hard to stop in in similar mood under 7lb penalty.

Still unexposed and did very well last term winning 4-5 over hurdles/bumper before finishing unplaced in hot Grade 3 Sandown event. Looks type to make a chaser and despite yard going through quiet spell has to be respected on chase debut.

Landed novices handicap hurdle at Huntingdon in February off modest mark but ran with credit two subsequent starts off 10lb higher rating. Chasing debut here and has a bit to find on form, but is not a complete no-hoper.

Forecasts

Mcgroarty (5/6), The Dubai Way (11/4), Flashing Glance (9/2), Otter Moon (8/1), Marmont (33/1)

Verdict

A good race to start the day and a chance for MCGROARTY to follow up his pleasing victory on chase debut at Huntingdon. With fitness guaranteed he sets a fair standard. The class act in the race is The Dubai Way who was very progressive last term over timber. He could do even better over fences and should give the selection plenty to think about if fit enough. Flashing Glance ran well here on his penultimate start but may find one or two too good once again, while Otter Moon and Marmont cannot be ruled out, although they both may come on for the run.
  1. Mcgroarty
  2. The Dubai Way
  3. Otter Moon
