Course winner (December 2016); possibly slightly more effective over 6f, but should be fine over this stiff 5f trip after a not reach the leaders 2¾L fourth to Verne Castle at Chelmsford (5f) ten days ago.
Sole start since April 2016 was when finishing a tailed-off last off eight in a 7f Lingfield claimer (November 2016); has left Richard Fahey since and rates as a very risky proposition indeed; hooded.
Likes to be delivered from off the pace with a late withering run, so that often causes problems; 3lb lower than when winning (for George Downing) over C&D in December 2016, and a solid second latest; fair chance off a handy mark.
Likes to dominate, but weakened from halfway when bidding to follow up his 2017 race success at Naas (5f) nine days ago; 0-11 on the AW; albeit beaten only 1L (third) over C&D here in June (last attempt).
Kept reasonable form on the AW last winter (2,2,1,2), but has found 6f summer turf (Class 4) handicaps to be overly competitive; needs to bounce back to form off a 103 day absence.
Doesn't win all that often, but in his defence he has a solid overall Newcastle record (1,2,7,2,2); clearly in good shape at present, and with C&D June form closely matched with Tylery Wonder.
AW debut; beat Laubali by in excess of 1L when successful for this rider at Redcar in June (5f, maiden handicap); competitive enough since in slightly better races than that, but this race looks to be a fairly tough option.
Impressive Polytrack and Fibresand strike-rate (4-7); 3lb higher than when beating Entertaining Ben by ¾L at Chelmsford (5f) in August; first appearance on Tapeta.
Runner-up at Ayr (5f) in August, but disappointing in three starts since; makes his first start on the AW since July 2013.
3lb lower than when beaten ½L by Oriental Lilly in a C&D fillies' handicap in June, but has been found wanting on turf (soft) lately; not discounted, but equally isn't the most obvious of solutions either.
5f juvenile winner (Bath) for Roger Varian; 0-5 since joining Mick Easterby for 18,000gns in October 2017 (has dropped 12lb in the weights); market a guide on return to the AW.
AW debut; possible trip (6f) and ground (good to soft) excuses at Ayr last week; perfectly solid prior to that, albeit in Class 6 company at Musselburgh.

Zamjar (5/2), Outrage (3/1), Suwaan (9/1), Dandy's Beano (10/1), My Name Is Rio (11/1), Choice Encounter (14/1), Wrenthorpe (14/1), Tylery Wonder (16/1), Magic Pulse (20/1), Jeffrey Harris (20/1), Burmese Blazer (20/1), Dahik (28/1), Jan Van Hoof (66/1)
An open race in which some of the runners are either encountering an artificial surface or Tapeta for the very first time. Suwaan isn't a regular winner, but has C&D form with today's rival Tylery Wonder, and with a solid overall Newcastle record is plenty more enticing than many. Zamjar is probably better over 6f, but could well be staying on strongly late, and holds place claims after a respectable run at Chelmsford (5f), whilst market support would offer some encouragement for Dahik. However, the best advice is to side with the well-drawn hold up horse OUTRAGE who should exploit a handy mark sooner or later assuming the important in-race splits arrive.
- Outrage
- Suwaan
- Zamjar
