Winner of two hurdle races in Ireland and makes his first appearance for his successful stable on the back of wind surgery. Of obvious interest and is another for whom the betting will tell a story.

Not at his best when last seen in the spring of 2017, but the handicapper has relented and this is his first run following a wind operation. Can get involved if fit and well following his spell on the sidelines.

Market Rasen winner last November, but two subsequent efforts were disappointing. Returns from a break off a feasible mark, but others make more appeal.

Good level of form when trained by Tom Lacey and starts out for a new trainer off a career-high mark. Looks to have a stiff task, but is consistent and should be on the premises.

On a quite lengthy losing run and reverts to hurdles after three outings over fences. Hard to fancy despite the excellent form of his stable.

Forecasts

Notwhatiam (11/8), Aaron Lad (9/4), Monbeg Gold (5/2), Vinegar Hill (4/1), Dr Robin (15/2), David John (12/1)

Verdict

Aaron Lad is much better than he showed on his final start at Haydock last season and is greatly respected for his in-form stable. David John is consistent and can get involved, while Monbeg Gold is interesting on his first run following wind surgery. NOTWHATIAM is having his first outing following the same operation and, given his trainer's superb record with new recruits, could be leniently treated.
