Useful chaser, winner of three of his ten starts and seems to handle most ground. Highly tried in an open handicap at Uttoxeter last time and will find this easier, can make mistakes but has won after a break, so chances if cutting the errors out.

Very useful chaser at his best, twice placed in the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival but was well below par for most of last year. Has won at this trip in the past and interesting to see if new yard can coax him back to former glories.

Veteran that tries hard, despite the fact he's often far form foot perfect in his races. Came good at Perth in July and only 3lb higher here, needs to stick in a clear round to hold best chance but not discounted if doing so.

Forecasts

Templehills (8/11), Dandridge (13/8), Thomas Crapper (6/1), Rear Admiral (7/1), Chirico Vallis (8/1), Dream Bolt (10/1)

Verdict

A really interesting contest and none of the six can safely be ruled out. Thomas Crapper would eat these for breakfast off this mark if ever he could recapture his best form, but that's a big if now. Rear Admiral and Dream Bolt are both getting on in years but both bring some recent good form to the table. Chirico Vallis would be a big threat if he can stop making mistakes, Templehills likewise, so a chance is taken that Charlie Longsden can work some magic on DANDRIDGE, who is worth another try at this trip these days and the yard can ready them first time up. He's on a very good mark if former glories can be recaptured.
  1. Dandridge
  2. Templehills
  3. Dream Bolt
