Trip and ground both look ideal, and although not seen out for bets part of a year, has won fresh so absence not necessarily an issue. Yard among the winners recently and top jockey booked, so could go well here.
Tries hard and although she tends to hit a flat spot in her races, can finish with a rattle. Handicapper probably has her about right though, but equally can go well fresh so no surprise to see her hit the frame at worst under ideal conditions.
Has been kept busy this summer and has twice been a winner in novice hurdles. Likes quick ground and trip fine, unlucky at Perth (chase) last time and with fitness on his side, cannot be discounted.
Twice a winner in the spring but and although her efforts since then haven't been terrible, it does suggest there are better handicapped horses here today. Conditions fine and will give it a go, but may come up short.
Got on a roll in the spring and rattled off a hat-trick of wins, efforts since then below par until bouncing right back at Uttoxeter last time, only just denied. On same mark here and step back up in trip a plus, so not discounted.
Has refound his form and after a win at Stratford, possibly unlucky to bump into one at Southwell last time. Nudged up another pound and this trip may stretch his stamina to the limit, but can't be ruled out in such good form.
First start for new yard, formerly with Gordon Elliott and recently purchased for £7,000 at Ascot Sales. Trip and ground fine but hard to win with at the best of times and hardly well handicapped here. More needed.
Winner of one of his ten hurdles starts but that came back in 2015 and although not disgraced in a couple of recent efforts, steps up in grade here and needs to dig in better at the business end. Others make a bit more appeal.
Forecasts
Voodoo Doll (9/4), Chieftain's Choice (4/1), Play The Ace (6/1), Jalingo (6/1), Canton Prince (13/2), Kentford Heiress (8/1), Just Milly (10/1), Canny Tom (50/1)
A tricky contest made trickier still by the lack of a pacemaker and this could be run at a crawl. That would count against the likes of Just Milly and Kentford Heiress but PLAY THE ACE has a decent turn of foot and won't mind it. He was very unlucky to be carried out at Perth last time and may be able to gain compensation here. Voodoo Doll might be the danger after a better effort at Uttoxeter last time out, and the yard are going well. Chieftain's Choice could be next best.
- Play The Ace
- Voodoo Doll
