80+ rated handicapper on the Flat has improved to land his last two over hurdles (both at Bangor) since getting better ground. Has won both with plenty in hand and not ruled out under a double penalty.

Placed to advantage in two minor races before going down narrowly to a more streetwise stable companion in a class 2 race at Newton Abbot. Improving with every run and does not have much to find to gain another win.

Winner at Ffos Las and placed twice since. This represents a stiffer test but stable are having a good spell.

Has moved from Tom George's yard having comfortably gained a first hurdle success on good ground in May. A line through Sonic matches him closely with Captain Peacock yet he receives 7lb here. The one to beat if fit.

50/1
Well beaten in all five starts so far including his last three over hurdles. Should find this equally as tough and probably one for handicaps further down the line.
Not disgraced here on hurdles bow but has not looked ready for a test as tough as this on his two subsequent starts.
8
Horse silk

Has offered nothing thus far and pulled up on last two starts. Impossible to fancy against a field of more promising types.

50/1 and well beaten on hurdling debut and in a much stronger contest this afternoon. Will improve when learning to settle.

50/1
Winner of two minor point-to-points makes rules debut and doubtful she will be good enough to take advantage of a generous weight allowance.

Forecasts

Serosevsky (2/1), Truckers Lodge (9/4), Captain Peacock (3/1), Francky Du Berlais (4/1), The Boom Is Back (20/1), The Overflow (50/1), Orchard Lane (50/1), Dollnamix (50/1), Bit More (50/1), Twentyoneblackjack (100/1)

Verdict

A hot novice hurdle with some top yards represented. Captain Peacock has been impressive on his last two starts and he is marginally preferred to Serosevsky who might not be able to match him for speed. Both face a stiff task in trying to concede 7lb to TRUCKERS LODGE who improved on a sound surface when last seen and a line through the runner-up gives him an edge over Oliver Sherwood's charge.
  1. Truckers Lodge
  2. Captain Peacock
