Ended a 12-race barren spell with success at Pontefract (1m2f, soft) last week. Front pair were 4L clear there, so he looks well worth having a go with under his penalty. Competitive.
Scored over 1m (soft) at Ayr last time, in what was his best effort for some time. Carries a penalty here. Would still have claims based on his 2016 form, but has to prove that he can get back to that.
Won his maiden on soft and sees out this trip. 1lb higher than his last success, but recent efforts don't offer huge encouragement.
Aside from a blip when stepped up to 2m, he has begun well for this trainer, winning his other two starts. Made all and showed a good attitude to score at Goodwood (1m3f) latest. Up 4lb, handles cut and makes the short-list.
Goes well on soft ground and at up to this sort of trip, but is without a win since 2015. Beaten just over 1L from this mark at Chester last time. Doesn't find winning easy, but has each-way appeal.
Both wins on turf have been on good to firm, and soft ground is a concern. Handicapper giving him a chance again recently, but probably needs further favours.
C&D scorer (good to soft) in May, when 6lb lower. Has posted good efforts on AW and then fast ground since. However, return to these conditions looks positive and he should be competitive.
All four wins have included soft in the going description, but the last of them came four years ago. Returned from a two-year absence to be last of six at Chester recently. Plenty to prove after that.
Won a heavy ground novice event (7½f) at Ffos Las this time last year. Only run twice since and went well back over that C&D last time, when 1lb higher. Unexposed and this longer trip could help with improvement. Claims.
1-17, his win being on fast ground, but he appeared to handle soft well enough on his only try. Slipping to the sort of mark from which he should have a chance, but he has that to prove.
0-8 but has shown more than one piece of form this season that suggests that he has a squeak from this mark. Handles but. Disappointing last time on AW, but interesting back on turf and dropped back in trip.
Both his wins have been with cut in the ground, the latter over this trip at Salisbury in April, when 7lb lower. Unable to remain competitive from higher marks since and others make more appeal.

Esprit De Baileys (9/2), Zatorius (9/2), Instant Attraction (6/1), Overtrumped (6/1), Daawy (7/1), Blooriedotcom (7/1), Bristol Missile (15/2), Saryshagann (8/1), Music Seeker (14/1), Visitant (20/1), Yorbelucky (22/1), Born To Please (33/1), Dark Ruler (66/1)
A tricky race for punters, with last-time winners Overtrumped, Saryshagann, Daawy and ESPRIT DE BAILEYS all looking capable of making a good fist of their follow-up bids, but the last-named is just preferred. His win was earned the hard way and can probably be marked up a little, so a 4lb rise does not look insurmountable. Yorbelucky and Zatorious are others for whom cases can be made and Blooriedotcom is not ruled out.
