Irish raider appreciates soft ground and stays well as advertised by win in similar conditions over 3m1f last season. Not disgraced on recent return so claims if conditions testing.

Maiden but has gradually improved and latest second (of 13) on handicap debut was best effort to date upped to 2m6f. Staying may be the making of him so respected here.

Unplaced in eight career starts over a variety of trips. Upped again here but hard to be optimistic after he tailed-off in last two starts.

Latest run over C&D probably her best to date when 7¼L fourth of 15. Had a break since and much quicker ground here.

Competitive without seriously threatening a few times for Warren Greatrex in 2016 and encouragement on stable debut after a long absence. New trip could suit so interesting contender.

Four-time winner including in this race last year. Doesn't arrive in as good form this time around although conditions not ideal latest. Bounce back needed but entirely possible he can.

Makes his stable debut off last winning mark of early 2017. Form tailed off in last three starts so will need new stable to re-invigorate him.

Rather threw it away latest in the first time cheekpieces latest at Newton Abbot (2m5½f) when wandering in front and settling for second. That form solid but form on soft a real concern.

Form of his 3m Southwell win in February (soft) would be competitive here but two runs since been decidedly disappointing so leap of faith required now after a break.

Picked up the wandering Willyegolassiego latest at Newton Abbot but raised 6lb for that and softer ground here raises doubts too.

Left previous efforts behind when second at Worcester (2m4f) latest although flattered by margin with winner heavily eased. 4lb higher now and softer ground likely but potential to go close.

Almost three years since his last win when trained by Nicky Henderson. 11 races for current yard yet to even see him placed so although he ran better latest he's hard to fancy.

Decent C&D third in June off 6lb higher stands out but four remote efforts since including pulling up twice make her harder to fancy.

Dual point-to-point scorer ran well in all four starts this year (two hurdles, two chases). Lower mark now and joined a yard renowned for improving new recruits. Vert interesting.

Forecasts

Sounds Of Italy (5/4), Willyegolassiego (6/1), Hepijeu (8/1), Cairnshill (8/1), Golden Friday (10/1), Aristocracy (11/1), Robin Deuz Pois (18/1), Act Of Supremacy (20/1), Live For Today (20/1), Petrify (28/1), Clondaw Banker (33/1), Houndscourt (50/1), Amber Flush (66/1), Golden Sandstorm (100/1)

Verdict

Dan Skelton is well known for his ability to improve new recruits and SOUNDS OF ITALY therefore gets the vote as his form would be competitive anyway. The selection also has positives in a first-time tongue-tie and first run post wind-op. Golden Friday is a young horse who looks on the up and is rated as the biggest threat. Irish raider Cairnshill is also on the shortlist particularly if forecast rain is significant.
