Has enjoyed a really good season and got his nose in front again last time, when racing here over 1m (good). Back up 2lb and drops in trip. Improvement needed but not ruled out.
7f specialist who acts on good to firm. 3lb higher than his last win at Leicester in August Held from this mark over 6f at Ascot last time, but should be better suited by the return to this trip. Competitive.
Goes well on fast ground over both 6f and 7f. 2lb higher than his best ever winning mark and recent form suggests that he will find this tough.
Scored over this trip on fast ground at Carlisle in July, when 6lb lower. Disappointed next time at Beverley, but better effort at Ayr latest. 7lb claim could bring him right back into this.
Has won twice at Carlisle (7f/1m, both good to firm) this season, the latter in June being from this mark. Has been unable to replicate that form from higher marks since, but is entitled to plenty of respect from this mark on faster ground again.
6f Carlisle (good to firm) scorer last year. Not at that level, albeit is having run respectably, in just three starts so far this term. Drops a handy looking 3lb here and with 3lb also claimed, it would be no surprise to see him go close.
Sole turf win came over this trip at Doncaster (good) last year, when 8lb lower. Has since won from just 3lb lower at Newcastle (7f, AW). Inconsistent since then, but has claims based on his Thirsk run two starts ago.
1-21, so not easy to win with, but ran well here over C&D last time in a better race. 2lb drop brings him right into this, if he can reproduce that sort of effort, but his inconsistent record suggests that is far from certain.
Decent strike rate, with 5-17 so far, all wins being over 7f and three of them on good to firm. Plenty going for him then and comes here on back of success at Doncaster. Up 5lb, but if blinkers work as well then he should go close.
Sole win came in a C&D maiden (good to soft) last season. Looks well treated from this mark on her best form and put in a respectable effort on her first run post-wind surgery at York last time. Interesting.
Forecasts
Tadaawol (7/2), Racemaker (5/1), Firmdecisions (6/1), Ingenuity (7/1), Kentuckyconnection (7/1), Equitant (8/1), Pursuing Steed (8/1), Caridade (9/1), Deansgate (20/1), Gold Hunter (40/1)
A tough race to call, with Caridade very interesting from this mark on her second run after a wind op, Pursuing Steed another contender after coming back to form last time, and a number of others who could go close if able to produce their best. Among them is Tadaawol, who will be better suited by the forecast fast ground, while Equitant, Racemaker and Firmdecisions could all have a say. However, INGENUITY has been ticking over well enough and he looks to have claims from this mark over a slightly shorter trip than last time.
- Ingenuity
- Pursuing Steed
- Caridade
