Former Italian trained mare who was quite prolific there and won first two starts for new yard late last year on AW. Form since less inspiring including two starts this summer both on AW. Handicap sliding but recent form concerning.

Prolific three-year-old campaign where she won five times now a distant memory. Handicap now below last winning mark and latest fourth of six here over 7f a fair run. More needed but handicap can't be ignored.

Dual winner this season was slightly below par latest at Windsor but was unable to lead there which she enjoys. Chance to dictate here although Malaspina likes to front run too but certainly a big player if she wins that battle.

Nine-time winner including here over 7f but was tailed off on return from a 366-day absence last month at Ayr (last of 11). Maybe needed that run so hopefully fare better here but hard to be confident.

All four career wins have come over 7f including at Thirsk this season. Ran well here off this mark over 7f two starts back before possibly found out by soft ground latest. Mixed messages at 1m but form is strong so if she does stay has to go close.

Built on a solid run of form by winning over C&D latest when getting up late in the day. Only raised 3lb for that success so has to be considered a leading player once again and is certainly in the best form here.

Forecasts

Lucky Violet (5/2), Whatsthemessage (11/4), Kalagia (3/1), Forever A Lady (5/1), Malaspina (15/2), Dark Crystal (33/1)

Verdict

LUCKY VIOLET won at Ayr in July and after three placed efforts in her next three she won again here latest over C&D. The handicapper hasn't been overly harsh and in a race where most of her rivals have question marks she looks the one to beat. Kalagia is the most feared of the rivals and Mark Johnston's filly has already shown a liking for front-running in small fields so will be hopeful of similar here. Forever A Lady has strong form but nagging doubts persist over 1m.
