One from 12 over fences has failed to build on a promising win at the Galway festival over 12-months ago when winning a beginners contest. Others preferred.
Front runner who has appeared to do too much in the early stages of late failing to complete in a couple of starts in the last month. Plenty to prove at present.
Will have disappointed connections in a number of dismal efforts since June and first time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.
Distance winner of a Limerick beginners contest on good ground in May in what appears to be something of a one-off. First time cheekpieces less likely to bring about the required amount of progression needed to land a blow here.
Failed to land the hat-trick in a Kilbeggan handicap chase last month finishing down the field in the process. Drop in trip not guaranteed to assist.
Got off the mark over fences at the first time of asking in a Limerick beginners contest over 18-months ago. Well held since and plenty more needed in this group.
Distance winner when not unbacked in a Killarney handicap chase last month off a an 8lb lower mark. Market to be the best guide here.
C&D winner of this contest 12-months ago off a 4lb higher mark. Capable of a big run as she attempts to regain her crown.
Forecasts
Act In Time (7/4), Presenting Mahler (10/3), Three Wise Men (9/2), Rock On Fruity (8/1), Damut (9/1), William Du Berlais (10/1), Tikkanen Express (16/1), Draycott Place (16/1)
ACT IN TIME can follow up his win in a Killarney chase over this trip last month when backed as if defeat was out of the question on handicap debut. The six-year-old rallied gamely when pressed for the lead and can see off the challenge from last years winner of this contest Presenting Mahler. In what appears to be a weak renewal, the two remaining J P McManus-owned runners Rock On Fruity and William Du Berlais look the best of the rest.
- Act In Time
- Presenting Mahler
