A winner over this distance over hurdles at Sedgefield on soft ground but eight subsequent starts without success, last five on the flat. Race-fit for his chasing debut and still has time on his side so not ruled out for top connections.

2m4f hurdle winner on heavy ground at Ffos Las was an impressive winner on chasing debut here last month over 2m7f. Full 14lb higher today so life considerably tougher now but could do little more than he did first time up.

19-race maiden has had four of his five chase starts here. Seconds last September were encouraging but two more recent starts less so. Tackles this longer trip for the first time and will need it to bring about improvement.

Three-time hurdle scorer was off the mark first time over fences at Newton Abbot despite an error at the last. Never got into it last time back over hurdles. 8lb higher now and never been beyond 2m2½f so trip a slight unknown.

Won one of nine chase starts (Ffos Las, 2m3½f). Ran well again at Ffos Las two starts back when second before a most disappointing effort there latest when a distant sixth of seven. Must bounce back and mark maybe high enough.

10 starts over fences yet to yield success but last two starts have both been solid with seconds at Stratford and Southwell last month. Same mark as latest here but was beaten 16L so still looks up against it.

Unplaced in all six starts over hurdles beaten 15L plus in each. Move to the larger obstacles may suit this former point-to-pointer but will need a huge step up to be involved.

Hinted at potential without really threatening in last two hurdle starts at Exeter (fourth) and Warwick (third). May make a chaser but not seen enough to recommend him here.

Three from 25 record over hurdles and now switches to the larger obstacles for the first time. Fair efforts last twice after a 339 day absence with fourths at Newton Abbot and Stratford. Yard does far better with hurdlers than chasers.

Placed three times over hurdles in France but yet to really fire in four starts for this yard. Not really jumps bred so chasing an unknown now but suggest we are yet to see the best of him so handicap mark is quite enticing.

Fine record in point-to-points but first three starts under rules were uninspiring in hunter chases. Much better latest when third under aggressive tactics at Stratford. Gets a further 1lb back and with so much jumping experience he is respected.

Verdict

HILLARY VIEW was an impressive winner on his chasing debut over 2m7f here and despite being penalised a full stone by the handicapper he can take this with that win the most persuasive chase form on offer. G'day Aussie is also 1-1 over fences having won at Newton Abbot so like the selection could prove a different proposition now as a chaser. Contented is one of several newcomers to chasing and given his connections he is the most appealing of them.
