5/1
Well beaten in four starts in the UK since April, including here over 2m2½f last month but recent effort in 2m Tramore handicap (off 85) when finishing third piques interest.
2

Hoover Fever26
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-12| J: Ben Godfrey(10)| T: C L Tizzard| OR:  97
25/1
Modest form in maiden hurdles, handicapper took no risks with an opening mark of 100 and duly beaten 25L over C&D last month. Has to improve.
3
Horse silk
Compatriott143
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-10| J: Aidan Coleman| T: O Murphy| OR:  95
6/1
Dual winner on the AW but disappointing in five starts over hurdles including when pulled up at Uttoxeter (2m, good to soft) in July. Remains open to improvement.
4

Silver Sea18
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-10| J: J McGrath| T: J W Mullins| OR:  95
8/1
Useful German Flat winner, has managed to get around safely in both starts over hurdles so far, including here, potential improver now starting out in handicaps.

Reason To Believeh118
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-8| J: T Scudamore| T: D G Bridgwater| OR:  93
14/1
Poor Flat maiden who has to prove stamina. Did shape marginally better last time at Fontwell and perhaps could show more now going handicapping but opposable on balance.
6

Rubheirah,t12
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: Sean Houlihan(5)| T: B Barr| OR:  86
66/1
Has failed to make the frame in 30 previous starts under all codes. Beaten around 30L in all three starts over hurdles and of little appeal here despite reverting to handicaps.
7
Horse silk
Akkapenko18
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-1| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  86
5/1
Successful on the Flat in France back in 2017 scoring on three occasions, big step forward on previous hurdles form when 3¾L second of eight over extended two-miles at Stratford last month. Of interest now.

Rocket Ronniep10
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: Thomas Garner(3)| T: A Wintle| OR:  86
4/1
Relatively useful on the Flat in his younger days (six-time winner) he's yet to score over hurdles (0-13) but recent runner-up finish at Bangor (2m3½f, good) was much more likable and enters calculations now.

Mutoondresdashorsep1,t36
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: Tom Cannon| T: N J Hawke| OR:  85
10/1
Held in five starts over hurdles this year including in handicap company the last three. Underwent wind surgery prior to last month's 23L defeat at Market Rasen (2m2½f, good), may do better in time.

Pirolop,t78
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: Tom Buckley(10)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  84WS
10/1
Some winning form on the Flat but yet to really make his mark over hurdles, including when jumping poorly and coming home 53L in arrears at Worcester in June.

Diamond Reflectiont9
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-3| J: Adam Wedge| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR:  74
8/1
Only win in 27 starts came on the AW. Limited promise over hurdles previously, though Uttoxeter second (2m, good) in July would give him a shout and ran well at Lingfield on the AW nine days ago.
12
Horse silk
Blackadderp11
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: James Davies| T: Mark Gillard| OR:  69
25/1
Unplaced in 13 starts over timber to this point, raced prominently at Fontwell (2m1½f, good) 11 days ago but unable to sustain the effort late on. Fairly limited ability and hard to put faith in.

Forecasts

Rocket Ronnie (4/1), Akkapenko (5/1), Every Chance (5/1), Compatriot (6/1), Silver Sea (8/1), Diamond Reflection (8/1), Mutoondresdashorse (10/1), Pirolo (10/1), Reason To Believe (14/1), Blackadder (25/1), Hoover Fever (25/1), Rubheira (66/1)

Verdict

ROCKET RONNIE chased home the favourite on his reappearance at Bangor recently and that constituted a fairly solid effort. There could be a bit more to come with the run behind him and he strikes as being on a decent mark for this sort of contest. Flat winner Every Chance hadn't shown a great deal over timber before finishing third in a handicap over 2m in Ireland last time and must go on the shortlist for this as a result. Likewise, Akkapenko took a step forward at Stratford last time and is considered while Reason To Believe might produce more now sent handicapping in this sphere.
  1. Rocket Ronnie
  2. Akkapenko
  3. Every Chance
