As soon as he hints at a revival these days he manages to run poorly on his next start and is clearly an inconsistent sort. Went well at Worcester in July, then pulled up over C&D next time. Since finished good third back at Worcester.
Made winning return at Worcester (2m7f, good) in July, moving nicely and getting job done in decisive style. Off since, just 5lb higher now and still firmly in the mix.
Undoubtedly well-treated in relation to his hurdling form and his previous two starts over fences had been his best, prior to unseating rider here last month before any serious questions were asked.
Seemed to appreciate the return to fences when a winner at Warwick (3m5f, good to soft) in April, although it was hard work. Not as effective at Uttoxeter in June over this trip and off since. Betting should be informative.
Two-time winner over fences in Ireland during 2016, patchy record there recently but showed ability is intact at Downpatrick in May. First start for new trainer and needs best stuff from this mark.
Scored at Huntingdon in April over just shy of 3m off a mark of 85, competitive in two of three subsequent starts (both at Fontwell over 3m2f on good) and entitled to go well here.
In good form last summer but he has returned with a bad attitude this term and there are others with stronger claims after three poor runs, including over C&D last month.
C&D winner in June (rated 81), an effort that was at odds with first two starts this year. Duly tailed off next time at Cartmel in July and remains very touch to put faith in.
One of her two rules victories came over C&D in 2015 but she has been in decline for the past couple of years. Pulled up last month over C&D and this may remain more competitive than she is ready for.
Dual hurdles winner finished well beaten on chase debut over C&D on good ground last month and similar fate back here in a handicap since, forlorn hopes on the back of those efforts.
Hurdles winner over two years ago but drawn a blank since, unconvincing so far in three chase starts. Picked up place money (beaten 16L in third of 12) here last month over 2m5f despite early nightmare. Chance on that form.
Placed in two of three starts over fences, including over C&D early last month. Has undergone a wind operation since and wouldn't need to find much improvement for that to be in the firing line now.
Experienced campaigner, without a win since May 2017 and failed to fire in three starts earlier in the year, needs to improve on those runs now back from a summer recess.
Forecasts
Bermeo (3/1), Georgina Joy (4/1), Orchestrated (11/2), Mr Satco (7/1), Southport (15/2), Presenting Berkley (10/1), Chill In The Wood (14/1), Distracted (14/1), Phangio (16/1), Oriental Fixer (20/1), Dry Ol'party (33/1), Flugzeug (40/1), Tiger Sam (50/1)
Things did not go well early on for BERMEO here last time out and so it was to his credit that he managed to gather himself and eventually make the frame. He has been given a helping hand by the assessor to the tune of 5lb since and might well build on that run now with a trouble free passage. Orchestrated did things well at Worcester in July on comeback and rates a big player in the same mood. Chill In The Wood has been running well of late and should again do so while Georgina Joy has placed for (including C&D) early in her chase career and is noted on first start after wind surgery.
- Bermeo
- Orchestrated
- Georgina Joy
