Justified favouritism at Pontefract last month but finished well down the field here last time out in Group 3 company. Forced to concede weight to all but this is much easier and he has more experience than any of his rivals. Should go well.
Noble Mission colt, cost $20,000 as a yearling and £75,000 as a Breeze-up purchase. Half-brother to a dirt winning sprinter. Dam, US Grade 2 winner and half-sister to a Grade 1 winner over 7f. Interesting runner on debut and worth a market check.

Arch colt, half-brother to two winners over similar trips. Dam a winner over this trip and half-sister to a US Grade 1 winner (turf). Yard capable of readying a debutante and market may prove the best guide to his chance.

George Vancouver colt, cost €26,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to four winners including a Group 2 winner. Dam a half-sister to a French Oaks runner-up. Well beaten on debut and may want further than this trip.
Mukhadram gelding, cost £17,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to two winners and dam a winner over this trip. Stayed on well for third on debut at Beverley but this is a much deeper race and significant improvement required.

Improved a little from debut to finish fourth at Carlisle last time out. Handicaps quite possibly a more likely winning route though and this colt is the second string on jockey bookings.

Helmet colt, cost €19,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to a 1m winner, dam a winner over longer distances. Looked in need of a step up in trip on debut at Thirsk and opposable in a deep contest on that basis.

Well beaten on both starts at Catterick on debut and then Beverley towards the end of last month. May do better when handicapping.

Dutch Art colt, cost £22,000 as a yearling and £48,000 as a Breeze-up puchase. Dam a 1m2f winner and half-sister to a 1m winner. Ran with credit on debut at Newcastle and likely to improve from that stepped up in trip here on just second start.

Galileo filly, cost 200,000 gns as a yearling. Full-sister to Group 1 winner Johannes Vermeer and Group 2 winner over this trip. Dam a winner as a juvenile. Yard won this with a smart one last year and this filly demands respect on her third start.

Forecasts

Woven (5/2), Ventura Ocean (7/2), Estihdaaf (5/1), Sapa Inca (6/1), Kensington Art (9/1), Alnadir (12/1), Joe The Beau (12/1), Hurricane Hero (14/1), Magrevio (25/1), Siege (50/1)

Verdict

VENTURA OCEAN sets a solid standard on form and will find this easier than the Group 3 last time out. With experience on his side, he could be hard to beat despite carrying a penalty. Woven is expected to improve after a promising debut but Sapa Inca could be the main danger for the yard that won this last year. Estihdaaf and Alnadir are two debutantes worth watching in the market given their pedigrees.
  1. Ventura Ocean
  2. Sapa Inca
  3. Woven
