66/1
Prolific turf winner in Italy at around 1m earlier in his career; eased in grade after struggling in a 1m2f Class 3 handicap at Ripon latest (100/1); 4-9 on the AW, but with major stamina concerns over a stiff 2m trip.

18/1
Veteran who ran some solid races over this C&D in early 2017 for his previous trainer Rebecca Menzies, and is now 9lb below his last winning mark, but yet to show much promise for his current handler.

5/2
Yet to win on the AW, but handles Tapeta effectively and made all to score by an emphatic 7L on turf at Pontefract (2m1f, good to firm) last month; raised 6lb, but that's not necessarily punitive; every chance.

16/1
Still 3lb above his last winning mark (2m Chelmsford, February), but is a C&D winner with a tendency to front run; unlikely to have it his own way up front with Cray in the line up; returning from a 90-day absence.

13/2
C&D winner off a 1lb lower mark in January; not quite in the same level of form after a six month break. However, more generally speaking the Ellison horses are in-form at present so merits plenty of respect.

4/5
10lb higher than when recording a second successive win in a match at Lingfield (1m3f+ good to firm) in July, but has found greater reserves since upped in trip (three-time runner-up); half-sister to 6f-1m winner Rock Warbler (solid at this track).

Forecasts

Trouble And Strife (4/5), Cray (5/2), Impulsive American (4/1), Sugarloaf Mountain (13/2), Mambo Dancer (16/1), Zakatal (18/1), Regarde Moi (66/1)

Verdict

A compact field of six, but not necessarily the easiest of races to solve. The returning Mambo Dancer and the emphatic Pontefract winner Cray are likely pace angles, with the latter far more convincing. The veteran Zakatal and Sugarloaf Mountain are previous C&D winners, whilst the selection TROUBLE AND STRIFE is a newcomer to Gosforth Park. She needs to produce a career best effort, but it's plausible that a fast pace will help her settle and she is open to further improvement over this 2m trip. Although 0-2 on the AW, those were early career efforts and there's plenty of optimism that she'll handle this Tapeta surface (related to Rock Warbler).
  1. Trouble And Strife
  2. Cray
  3. Sugarloaf Mountain
