Only had two starts since returning from a lengthy absence so should be cherry ripe now in terms of fitness. Has shaped like this longer trip will suit and is interesting, even more so should he be strong in the market.
Showed much improved form on the back of a wind operation when second at Southwell three weeks ago. Nudged up 4lbs for that effort but sound claims of going well again if coming on for that.
Winner at Worcester over fences back in May. Sound effort over hurdles back there last time but has been raised 7lb for not winning which makes life tougher in here.
Possibly would have recorded a win this summer but for some jumping errors creeping in at Worcester two starts back. Capable of being competitive off this mark but vulnerable to anything on a going day.
Had a couple of spins on the flat of late to keep him ticking over. Generally runs his race and is still below his last winning mark over hurdles so you can make a case.
Cheekpieces did the trick when winning over fences at Hexham back in June. Both subsequent efforts have been poor however and now reverts back to hurdles in a attempt to spark him back to his best.
Been in good form since joining current connections and was better than the bare form suggests at Downpatrick last time. This step up in trip looks a good move and will be a major player in this field.
Can be a bit in-and-out so not a great worry that he bombed out last time at Newton Abbot given his profile. Creeping up the weights without winning is a much bigger worry.
Forecasts
King's Song (7/2), Demon D'Aunou (7/2), Will O'The West (4/1), Kilkishen (9/2), Rolling Maul (6/1), Lord Ballim (8/1), Our Reward (12/1), Tickenwolf (33/1)
Plenty of these seem to be in the grip of the handicapper at present. Demon D'Aunou ran well on the back of a wind operation last time and has claims if able to back that up now. Clear preference is for KING'S SONG who has been in good form of late and shaped better than the result suggest last time. This trip looks ideal and he could take some stopping.
- King's Song
- Demon D'Aunou
- Kilkishen
