Backed into favouritism for a similar event over C&D last week but could only stay on at one pace into midfield. Bit more rain wouldn't hurt his chances and with a good jockey booked, holds a chance.

Has been in reasonable form for much of the summer but last couple of efforts, though by no means bad ones, do suggest the handicapper has him after his Wolverhampton win in June. Needs a bit more, and could do with the rain staying away.

Is at least back on a wining mark after a few moderate efforts, but form in general this season hasn't matched the achievements of last year and he's hard to fancy at present.

Winner at Lingfield two starts ago and then although turned over at odds-on at Chepstow last time, wasn't beaten far and this step back up to a mile on a stiffer track should suit. One of the main players on form.

Not shown a lot in three starts but goes handicapping on a low mark and the straw to cling to is that his best effort so far did come over C&D on debut. Plenty to take on trust, though.

Only has the one eye, and seems happiest going around a bend, as he showed again when a C&D winner here under similar conditions last week. Penalty to carry but absolutely no reason not to go close if in the same mood.

Had first start for new yard when not disgraced over 6f at Redcar a fortnight ago, looking like he needed a bit further again. Blinkers tried there are retained, but overall profile not that convincing, and others make a bit more appeal.

No win in 26 starts just the first of a few concerns, as he seems to lack gears whatever the trip and comes here off the back of a few sound defeats. Others readily make more appeal.

Just the four wins in her 73-race career, but did at least refind a bit of form when second at Ripon two weeks ago. However, that was over 11f, and this drop back in trip is not guaranteed to produce the same results.

No win or places in 21 starts and takes a big step up in trip here after being campaigned at sprint trips. That needs to have a major effect or he looks like being one of the also-rans again.

Sent off huge three-figure prices most starts recently and although not disgraced behind Monsieur Jimmy over C&D last time out, hard to make a solid case for.

Maiden after nine starts but did show a bit more when fourth at Hamilton last week, making most and only giving way late on. Might have a little more to offer and with conditions fine, could creep into the places.

Forecasts

Monsieur Jimmy (5/2), Jazz Magic (9/2), Slipstream (5/1), Scrutiny (7/1), Stubytuesday (15/2), Edgar Allan Poe (10/1), Warrior's Spirit (12/1), Colour Contrast (16/1), Graceful Act (16/1), Meadow Way (50/1), Kirkby's Phantom (100/1), Trulove (125/1)

Verdict

Probably not many to concentrate on if recent form is anything to go by, and SLIPSTREAM is the one that makes the most appeal now he's getting what appears to be a more suitable trip, and Carlisle's stiff finish will help his cause too. He can but his Chepstow blip behind him here. Stubytuesday is another that should be sticking on when others have cried enough, and can give the selection a bit to think about. Monsieur Jimmy has some good recent form in the bank and can challenge for places, and any money for Meadow Way would make him more interesting.
