Improved since joining his current yard and possibly more to come now his confidence has been boosted with a recent win. Was held off a 6lb higher mark last time but this is a similar level and he could easily make the frame once more.
Yet to start a race at odds below 25/1 and, as she was well held over 1m last time, she is hard to fancy on her first attempt at this new trip.
Still a maiden but has made the frame three times over an extended nine furlongs at Wolverhampton. Less than impressive on his only previous try on the Polytrack here, so still needs to prove he's effective on the surface.
Of modest ability and well held in a poor seller at Leicester at the start of August. Considerable improvement required here.
Has stamina on her dam's side but well held in three novice events so far and the filly has plenty to prove in stepping up from 1m to 1m2f. Others look more convincing.
Form has been regressive over a mile but does look worth a try over this distance judging by her breeding. Didn't make much impact on her only previous start at this course so also needs to prove she likes the surface.
No impression in three novice races over 1m before now and a big step forward is required for the gelding to get involved in the thick of the action. Opposable on handicap debut.
Best effort when second in a seller at Leicester on her penultimate start but failed to build on that when held in the same grade last time. Debut for a new yard today and possible she'll have been freshened up by the change. Worth a betting check.
Best effort when second in a stronger race at Yarmouth in June - showing a willingness to battle near the finish. Looks ready for this step up in trip and, with a 5lb claimer helping at the weights, the filly looks one of the more likely types.
Good effort when fourth at this course over 1m1f in May. Form has been intermittent since then but the return to this distance could work in his favour. Worth noting in the betting.
Had to be rousted along from an early stage when brushed aside in a Class 6 handicap at Chelmsford last time...an ominous portent of things to come as filly plugged on to beat just one rival. Very hard to recommend on that performance.

King Athelstan (6/5), Pact Of Steel (9/4), Moretti (11/1), Downtown Mombasa (12/1), Takiah (14/1), Grasmere (16/1), Highway Bess (16/1), Havana Magic (25/1), Beloved Knight (25/1), Thunderhooves (25/1), Brilliant Riposte (33/1), Patienceisavirtue (125/1)
Very much the weaker of the two divisions of this race and reliability is very thin on the ground. With that in mind, GRASMERE is tentatively forwarded as one that is at least capable of putting up a fight when under pressure and, as the trip can be expected to suit, she is given the benefit of the doubt. Moretti has claims on the very pick of her form in sellers, while Pact Of Steel and King Athelstan are others to monitor in the betting.
- Grasmere
- Moretti
- King Athelstan
