Useful flat performer who won five times and off the mark over timber latest when successful over 2m½f at Bangor which was his first run after a wind-op. Still improving in the jumping department so more to come from him.

Winning chaser makes his first start over hurdles since February 2017. Placed in all four hurdle races achieving a rating of 123 which is the highest in the field. First race since January here and worry is that this is a pipe-opener for chases.

Tailed off at big prices in two starts to date at Newbury and Market Rasen last winter. Hopefully can do a little better now but hard to fancy him.

Lowly 47 rated flat performer (high of 66) has been unplaced in all eight hurdle starts to date. Over a year since he last tackled obstacles and recent flat form has been poor so easy to overlook him.
Three hurdle starts seen her beaten 35L plus in each. Completely tailed off in two starts this summer and prior form in bumpers shows few glimpses that there is more to come.

Verdict

This looks something of a three horse race on paper and the vote goes to HENRY SMITH who has the benefit of a recent run and a win at that, his trainer Dr Richard Newland has a fine strike-rate at this course. Dijon Conti is still unexposed and this Wincanton winner should have more to come this season so he is rated the principle threat. Accord's form over hurdles is comparable to his rivals but he has been off some time and concentrates mostly on chasing these days.
  1. Henry Smith
  2. Djin Conti
  3. Accord
