Authoritative winner at Newmarket (1m4f) on his penultimate start but has posted a more modest effort at Glorious Goodwood since (race has produced winners); revised handicap mark not a worry; 1-2 on the AW so far (Tapeta debut).
Has failed to win since his juvenile campaign, and could only be described as a disappointment at Glorious Goodwood (1m3f) latest; his 'best trip' is inconclusive on form, so we'll opt to wait and see how he fares on his AW debut.
No issues with either track or trip and continues on an upward curve despite the winning run coming to an end at Nottingham recently (1m6f); consistent, so commands respect despite his joint career high mark.
Beat subsequent winner Majboor by 1½L on handicap debut at Chelmsford (1m2f), so a 5lb rise in the weights looks to be relatively fair. Every likelihood that this longer trip will suit (has C&D experience in the book); player.
Stamina looked to be her forte when winning a couple of lesser races (1m3f+) at Lingfield and Windsor, but she came up short upped to 2m latest; cheekpieces applied for AW debut in a competitive looking contest.
Produced a clear career best effort when beating Hamilton regular Granite City Doc by 1½L last month (1m3f, good); raised 5lb and upped in grade; runner-up on sole Newcastle start (1m) as a juvenile.
Surprise Class 5 winner at Catterick in May (1m4f, good to firm), but hasn't proved strong enough in a couple of Class 4 handicaps since and this rates as another step up the ladder; vulnerable.
Forecasts
Recordman (15/8), Drill (9/4), Benadalid (9/2), Rare Groove (8/1), Life On Earth (10/1), King's Proctor (16/1), Arthenia (40/1)
Recordman looks certain to appreciate this step up in trip, and with his Chelmsford handicap debut win franked rates as difficult to keep out of the frame in a competitive looking Class 3 handicap. Cheekpieces could potentially benefit the stamina laden AW debutante Life On Earth, but this is a stronger race than she's won previously, whilst Benadalid is always fully respected on Tapeta at Gosforth Park. However, the top-weight DRILL is also an AW proven performer (Chelmsford), and he's fancied to get his career back on track after a modest effort in Class 2 company at Glorious Goodwood last month.
- Drill
- Recordman
- Benadalid
