C&D winner last time out (showed a good attitude to overcome a troubled passage and eventually win with a little in hand). Up 3lb but still on a handy enough mark for consideration. Does need to prove it wasn't a flash-in-the-pan though.
Won from a mark of 89 at Southwell in January but found life tough after reassessment. Has been out of sorts since and his latest effort at Newmarket latest is uninspiring. Leap of faith required in the hope he can recapture his best.
Ended a barren spell with a win at Brighton earlier in the month but reverted to type at Chepstow under a 3lb higher mark and needs to bounce back. 0-4 on the AW but possibly found 7f too sharp on his only previous run here.
Goes well here and has already won a course seller under today's rider, so has plenty going for him. The drop in trip isn't too much of an issue (has won over C&D) and no surprise to see him make this a good test. Leading claims.
Exploited a fair mark to win a similar at Chester on his penultimate start and seems to be thriving after a subsequent near miss back at the same course earlier this month. Tapeta debut a concern though.
Enjoyed a profitable 2018 with three wins since May. Won a lady riders event under today's pilot at Ayr last time and still looks fairly treated from just a 4lb higher mark. 1m suits, so entitled to serious consideration.
Forecasts
Pensax Boy (13/8), Coviglia (5/2), Gabrial's Kaka (7/2), Barnaby Brook (8/1), Archie (10/1), London (16/1)
Forcing the pace may be the key for BARNABY BROOK getting the better of his rivals and the gelding, under a 7lb claimer whom he knows well, just edges preference over the in-form Coviglia and Pensax Boy. A solid case can also be laid out for Gabrial's Kaka, who is in great heart just now and could have a big say if taking to the Tapeta surface.
