Can't always be relied upon to put his best foot forward. Last four runs have been a little disappointing and others are preferred until showing a bit more.

Irish import who is at home on soft ground but well below her best this season. Has not been with her new yard for long so doubtful things will have turned around fast enough.

Holding her form well and she has gone close on both previous visits here. However, she has not been at her best on soft surfaces. Engaged 3:50 Musselburgh Thursday

Record of 1-34 tells a story but he went desperately close on his penultimate start. Drops in trip having found little under pressure last time and stronger handling employed.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: Faye McManoman(7)| T: N Tinkler| OR:  46

Has been lurking on an attractive mark for a while. Last run here was the first sign he was reaching a performance level that could take advantage.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Rowan Scott(3)| T: R J Osborne| OR:  52| BF

Has produced a few good runs here lately over further. His penultimate start in particular raises a doubt this will be far enough. Visor tried for first time.

Jazz Magic8
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: J Garritty| T: Miss L C Siddall| OR:  51
50/1
Has shown glimpses of ability and a further drop in the weights gives him a chance on his best form. Untested on ground this soft and he is best monitored in the market.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: T Hamilton| T: D Loughnane| OR:  45
10/1
Lightly raced maiden whose best efforts have come with some give in the ground. Yard have enlisted the services of a top rider and she has to be taken seriously.

Forecasts

Allux Boy (9/2), Flying Focus (9/2), Empress Lyla (9/2), Optima Petamus (7/1), Mrs Angel (10/1), Lotara (12/1), Twiggy (12/1), Colour Contrast (14/1), Carlovian (14/1), Jack Blane (16/1), Intiwin (16/1), The Perch (16/1), Jazz Magic (50/1), Lady Grigio (50/1)

Verdict

The Perch and Jazz Magic are relatively lightly raced and either would merit consideration if supported on their first encounter with a soft surface. One that will relish the conditions is MRS ANGEL who produced a career best on the only occasion she's had easy ground and for whom the booking of Andrea Atzeni looks a positive move. Carlovian is another who will not mind conditions and he promises to be in the mix off this mark.
  1. Mrs Angel
  2. Carlovian
  3. The Perch
