Well supported over hurdles at Market Rasen last time when winning in selling grade and now returned to fences; 1-11 in this sphere. Beaten off this mark and higher before in handicaps over fences although not many in form in this.
Appears to be an improved performer since switching to this yard producing a career-best on his debut for them and backing that performance up last time. Stuck well to his task over 2m1f here last time in a race where some principals disappointed.
Won a couple of novice hurdles last year having previously looked a questionable sort in a finish; so far failed to complete having been sent chasing. May have excuses for both those defeats but overall not one to trust (lost a shoe last time).
So far has made very little impression over fences and was struggling a fair way out last time on his initial run for this yard. Handicapper starting to show some mercy but hard to make a case for him on what he's shown so far.
Had a rather chequered career having shown some useful form over hurdles/fences when with David Pipe. Lightly-raced since but still looks to have some ability based on his two starts for this yard; may be more to come (first-time cheekpieces).
His two chase wins at the backend of last year are now a distant memory and he remains well above his last winning mark. Struggling of late having been pulled up the last twice and can't be relied on here given his inconsistent nature.
Generally goes from the front but has struggled for the most part since winning over C&D just over a year ago. Not one to rely on and looks to be a risky proposition even off a reduced mark.
Forecasts
Vif Argent (7/2), Omega Springs (7/2), King Alfonso (4/1), Boy In A Bentley (4/1), Whos De Baby (5/1), Rhythm Of Sound (10/1), Chateau Chinon (33/1)
Sound propositions are few and far between here with King Alfonso given a chance of following up his win in a selling hurdle last time returned to fences despite being beaten off this mark over fences before. Boy In A Bentley for all his quirks can be forgiven his two chasing outings so far and may be able to produce better and he along with Omega Springs are respected in this. VIF ARGENT is undoubtedly on a winning mark though and with the cheekpieces going on for the first-time he’s taken to add to his chasing account; he’s 25lb below his last winning chase mark now.
- Vif Argent
- Omega Springs
- King Alfonso
