Landed a point-to-point in May but his two hurdling efforts to date make him a long term project and he will want further.
Some promise in bumpers but his two starts over hurdles are less encouraging. Pulled up last time and has undergone wind surgery since.
Group 3 winner in Germany in 2015 who was tailed off in the Chester Cup on stable debut. Made errors on his hurdling debut here and would probably be at home over further, but he sets the standard in an ordinary event.
Half-brother to a couple of hurdles winners in Beluckyagain and Inthejungle, and from a good jumping family. Travelled well on bumper debut at Ayr in January to finish third and respected here.

Unconvincing so far in bumpers and on hurdling introduction. Hard to fancy on available evidence and he will need to jump a lot better.

Dual scorer on the AW for Keith Dalgleish who was well held on stable debut three weeks ago. Nevertheless, that will have put an edge on him and as a 75-rated Flat performer he commands respect in a weak race.

75-rated Flat performer who handles any ground. In good hands albeit the yard do not have their customary strike rate with hurdlers here. Soon dropped away following a mistake on hurdling debut and it is hard to enthuse over his prospects.

Showed little in two bumpers and was sent off 50/1 for his hurdling bow in March. Got no further than the first that day and he is of limited appeal here.

Poor Flat maiden rated 47 on turf. Trainer/jockey combination respected but hard to see him being good enough, even at this modest level.

Ex-Irish 17-race maiden who made the frame three times in the spring but who was tailed off on stable debut two months ago. An absence since suggests there may have been a problem and he has the ability to bounce back in this company.

Yet to match his French form but his three runs for this yard came during an unproductive spell for them last winter. Dropped in class and tongue-tie fitted.

Tailed off on both starts over hurdles and looks a challenging prospect for her capable trainer. Handicaps may prove a better option long term.

Finished last on four occasions and has barely beaten a rival in the other three. Looks an unlikely winner on second start over hurdles..

Has failed to make the frame in 29 previous starts under all codes. Beaten at least 30L on both starts over hurdles and of no appeal here.

Forecasts

Shadow Sadness (11/8), Astute Boy (7/2), Thepensionfund (6/1), Sommervieu (9/1), Acker Bilk (14/1), Freedom Chimes (14/1), Casemates Square (20/1), All Hands On Deck (22/1), Another Drama (40/1), Muilean Na Madog (40/1), Troy Dee Knee (50/1), Bard Of Brittany (66/1), Rubheira (100/1), Dance With Kate (100/1)

Verdict

Thepensionfund is the most interesting of these given a strong pedigree and the promise of his bumper debut. His yard are in form and rare visitors here so any market moves would have to be noted. Sommervieu is, at some point, likely to prove better than he has shown so far and Acker Bilk is an interesting recruit. The vote goes to SHADOW SADNESS who should have learnt plenty from his hurdling debut and would have been the pick of these on the level. The booking of Brian Hughes can be considered a positive sign.
  1. Shadow Sadness
  2. Thepensionfund
  3. Sommervieu
