Morpheus colt out of an ordinary 6f winner ran just fairly on debut at Newmarket (July course) over this trip earlier in the month when eighth of 13. Big strides needed to get involved here.
Dubawi gelding showed little on debut at Leicester where he faded badly and was a distant last of seven over 7f. Is bred for this step up in trip although didn't look like he would want it at Leicester. Wears a visor now but hard to recommend.
Slade Power colt ran very greenly on debut here over 7f where everything seemed to happen a little quickly. Should benefit for the experience and given time since so better expected over a trip he should enjoy.
350,000gns son of Australia showed ability on debut at Newmarket in July over 7f despite running a little greenly in fifth. This looks the one his top jockey has come here for and over this longer trip he is expected to show significant improvement.
Cape Cross filly ran with potential on debut at Nottingham where she finished third of five over 1m½f beaten 3¾L. A little slow to respond to urgings there but should no the job better now and no surprise if forcing tactics employed here.
Six-race maiden sets the standard on form based on her three seconds to date, two on AW and latest on turf at Ripon which was her first try over 1m. Vulnerable to less exposed types but sure to go well and first-time cheekpieces could assist.
Forecasts
War Eagle (4/6), Cape Islay (7/2), Nina Petrovna (5/1), Hypnos (12/1), Noble Ancestry (25/1), Slade King (40/1)
John Gosden is capable of readying newcomers although plenty of his more stoutly bred two-year-olds need their first run and WAR EAGLE looked the sort likely to make significant progress from his first race to this his second. Ryan Moore's mount gets the nod over Nina Petrovna who has the best form in the book but isn't open to the same amount of improvement as her rivals. Cape Islay isn't ruled out as very few from her stable can be and she showed enough at Nottingham to think she will go well here.
- War Eagle
- Nina Petrovna
- Cape Islay
