Has won twice over C&D this summer and scored under today's amateur rider in June, followed up off a 7lb higher mark last month and is now a further 5lb higher. Looks sure to make a bold bid for the hat-trick.

Has won seven from 26 but hasn't raced over hurdles since winning at Musselburgh 21 months ago. Fit from the Flat though and connections may have had their eye on this decent prize for some while.

Won 8-11 for Brian Ellison in a blitz on both Flat and hurdles through to October last year, but the handicapper has taken his revenge since. Still 5lb higher than last success and looks to have it all to do.

Won novice hurdle over C&D on this card 12 months ago and won on the Flat at Musselburgh over 2m last month. Unseated rider 2 out here in June when in with every chance and won't be far away off 4lb higher mark.

Coming down the weights over hurdles and ran well off 5lb higher mark at Wetherby last term. A little disappointing at Thirsk 1m4f last time but looks one to consider in an open event.

Won novice hurdles at Kelso in May and Perth in June but ran badly at Perth last time on handicap debut when a tailed off last of four. Dropped 3lb but might have had enough racing in a busy summer campaign.

One of four runenrs for his locally based trainer. Won here in June last year off 116 and now 6lb lower with first-time visor added. Good rider booked to replace regular lady amateur so is certainly worth a second glance.

Won maiden hurdle here in July last term but hasn't been in great form of late in handicaps and managed to crash through a rail when tailed off here last time out. Wears first-time blinkers.

Won over C&D in June off 5lb lower mark but hasn't shown much in his last two starts and will do well to get involved at the business end of the contest.

Won two hurdles and one on the Flat in Ireland. Has dropped 19lb since joining current yard but did show a little more last time out when third over C&D last time. Has light weight and potentially well handicapped on best of old form.

Scored over C&D in July then won again at Bangor earlier this month before finishing third last time at Stratford. Made jumping errors last time and will need a clear round here to figure.

Forecasts

Hermanus (11/4), Wells De Lune (3/1), Tamarillo Grove (5/1), Golden Jeffrey (6/1), Dodgybingo (13/2), Cornborough (8/1), Venue (10/1), Lough Kent (11/1), Think Ahead (12/1), Our Kylie (14/1), Golden Town (33/1), Placedela Concorde (40/1)

Verdict

VENUE looks the right type for this race having had three spins on the Flat but was a decent handicap hurdler a couple of seasons ago and is only 4lb higher than when winning on his last hurdles start. Golden Jeffrey would have gone close on his last visit here but for unseating rider late on and is a danger, as too is Lough Kent who may be the pick of Jimmy Moffatt's four runners. Top weight Wells De Lune will make a determined bid for the hat-trick while Tamarillo Grove is in there with chance too along with potentially nicely handicapped Dodgybingo.
