It's over two years since his last win and clearly not the force he once was. Well held last time, but now drops in grade and could be a more interesting proposition as a result.
4lb higher than when winning at Chepstow (1m, good to firm) last month and went close from this mark last time. Clearly in good heart and has a pilot up who does well in these races. Interesting.
Went close on his final start for Johnny Murtagh when a 1L second at Gowran Parkk (7f, soft/heavy) in May. Has since joined this trainer and it will be interesting to see what the market makes of his chance on good ground.
Came back to form with a win on his debut for this stable at Beverley (1m½f, good to firm) last time. Carries a penalty for that, so is officially 1lb 'well in' here and has to be taken very seriously as a result.
In good form this season and made all at Newbury last time (1m1f, good), when probably having more in hand than the margin of a head suggested. Goes unpenalised for that and enters calculations again.
Sole surf win from 33 attempts came in 2015, over this trip at Sandown. 7lb lower here, but recent efforts have been none-too-encouraging.
Triple winner at around this trip, including on good, though has not run on turf for almost two years. Returns 20lb lower than where he left off, and recent All Weather form suggests that he is up against it.
1lb higher than when winning at Windsor (1m, good) in June. Hit and miss form since then, and definitely the latter when a 30L last of nine over C&D (good to soft) last time. Not written off, but clearly has a bit to prove.
Acts on good ground or softer and goes well here. 1lb higher today than when scoring here over 7f in October. Has gone close on both his last two starts and should again he right in the mix.
Not the most consistent, but produced one of his best efforts of the year last time when a 1L second at Newmarket (1m, good to soft), from today's mark. A repeat effort would see him thereabouts again.
Forecasts
Gala Celebration (6/5), Red Charmer (5/1), Misu Pete (5/1), Sir Roderic (13/2), Mister Musicmaster (12/1), Edge (16/1), Playa Blanca (20/1), Spryt (33/1), Carlini (33/1), Jack Of Diamonds (50/1)
An open heat, with Gala Celebration, Edge and Misu Pete among those with claims, while Red Charmer and the dropped-in-grade Sir Roderic are also of interest. However, MISTER MUSICMASTER is also in cracking form and his pilot has a good record in these types of races, so he could be the one for today.
- Mister Musicmaster
- Gala Celebration
- Edge
