Ten-race maiden (unplaced), was pulled up in both starts having joined this trainer last season after a spell on the sidelines (one hurdles / one chase). Back from latest break and tough to make any case for.

Winner of a weak Bellewstown maiden hurdle in July last year but modest thereafter in that sphere. Returned from 279-day absence making chase debut for leading yard with Galway third 22 days ago, should be more to come.

11/1
Nine-race maiden over fences but place three times and has posted solid effort at Wexford (second) and Galway (fourth) recently. Enters the mix in what might be less competitive event

25/1
Pulled up twice over hurdles this summer before 22L defeat over this C&D on chase bow, seemingly lacking the pace when push came to shove. Must improve on that effort.

5/1
Consistent 122-rated hurdler who won his maiden in a Ballinrobe 2m½f contest in May on good ground. Third at Galway Festival in beginners' chase over 2m2f, then second over this C&D 13 days ago. Firmly in the picture here.

16/1
Fifth of 12 on chasing debut last month at Limerick, though failed to build on that with tame run at Galway (2m2f, yielding) since. Has time on his side and represents excellent connections.

Decent hurdler, reaching a rating of 124 having won 4-11 over timber. Hasn't raced for close to a year and likely is best watched now tacking fences for the first time.

Poor in two 2017 starts over fences. Has won on the Flat and over timber this summer and ran a crack at Tramore last week on the level. Has potential if jumping has been worked on.

Mare was progressive and won twice over hurdles in 2016 over 2m/2m4f. Very tame in both starts last year however and comes here for first chase start / first run since December. Has joined excellent yard if hoping to turn fortunes around.

Forecasts

Its All Guesswork (10/11), Abbey Magic (7/2), Niven (5/1), You Can't Catch Me (8/1), Lean And Keen (11/1), Successor (16/1), Linger (25/1), Violoniste (40/1), Dont Stop (100/1)

Verdict

NIVEN was a decent hurdler and has made a good switch to this discipline. Noel Meade's runner might have registered on his second chase start last time, bar a slow jump at the last over this C&D. With more fluency, he can take this. Its All Guesswork returned from an absence with an encouraging Galway run and is much-respected for Gordon Elliott while Lean And Keen, Successor and You Can't Catch Me are all worthy of a betting check.
  1. Niven

  3. Lean And Keen
