Didn't hit his usual flat spot when cruising to a 16L C&D success in first-time blinkers. Not unduly penalised and the forecast of dry weather helps him considerably.
His last two successes have come under this rider and yard have hit form. Has won off this mark previously and capitalised on a 5lb lower rating in June. Beaten in two farcical races since and was travelling well when coming down on latest.
Claims on his Uttoxeter third and the trip would have been inadequate last time. Not easy to win with and he is often let down by his jumping.
More than two years since his last win and he has not convinced he relishes a fight on occasions since. Reverts back to hurdles after an unsuccessful stint over fences.
Has gained all four of her successes here whilst with Victor Dartnall. Reappears following wind surgery and an 18-month break in a contest which will test her fitness.
Flopped when seeking a hat-trick of chase wins and now reverts to hurdling. Unplaced in all five runs in this discipline and 4lb higher than for the last of them.
Without a win in two years but has made the frame in all three starts over C&D. Stable had a Flat winner on Saturday and has to go on the shortlist.
Scored here last time (2m5f) despite the going being on the soft side for him. Has struggled to stay the last 100 yards on both previous runs over C&D.
Gamely got the better of Tea Time Fred here three weeks ago and there is nothing between them on today's terms. Has progressed with each of his last three runs so has to enter calculations.
Forecasts
Lord Topper (11/4), Good Man Vinnie (7/2), Mamoo (9/2), Tea Time Fred (6/1), Midnight Sapphire (7/1), Bodega (10/1), Travertine (12/1), Kalmbeforethestorm (12/1), Kalifourchon (33/1)
Lord Topper, Mamoo and Tea Time Fred have proven form over C&D recently whilst Kalmbeforethestorm overcame unfavoured going to collect over shorter last time. Travertine and Kalifourchon are not easy to win with but BODEGA features on a winnable mark. The ten-year-old goes well for this rider, hails from a yard in form and will get the strong pace he requires in order to deliver.
- Bodega
- Lord Topper
- Tea Time Fred
