Useful sort on the Flat, took a while to get off the mark over hurdles (2nd four times); no flaws in his attitude. Enthusiastic sort who made all at Cartmel and now returns to handicaps (10lb higher than debut); better since blinkered over hurdles.
Proved a revelation for this yard when first joining them winning her first three starts (one here over further). Has her quirks but coped well with an increased mark when last seen at Warwick; proved that this mark wasn't beyond her there.
From a yard that have had a stellar start to the season and contributed with a chase win at Southwell off a 1lb lower mark. Came 2nd on his return (hurdles) over C&D and now reverts to them off the lower mark that he has in this sphere; blinkers on.
Showed some good form earlier in the year on the level for his former yard before joining this one for a hurdles campaign. Ran poorly on his first start for them before showing some mild promise over C&D last time (previous C&D winner); more needed.
Second runner in the race for the yard (looks second-string) having run below-par on his last two starts (profile overall is rather uneven). Well backed last time but remains 3lb above his last winning mark and best watched.
Failed to complete the hat-trick last time running into a much improved sort in a race that is working out well. The slightly longer trip last time no appearing to be a problem although a return to this bare 2m will suit better; not ruled out.
Forecasts
Atlantic Storm (15/8), Borak (11/4), Beach Break (3/1), Ambre Des Marais (9/1), Excellent Team (12/1), Samtu (14/1)
Pushed up to a career-high mark and back into handicaps Beach Break will need the run of the race to overcome that impost having although he’s looked better since wearing blinkers over hurdles. Ambre Des Marais isn’t totally straightforward but has shown he can compete off this mark while Borak can’t be written off returning to this trip having failed to complete a hat-trick last time. Trainer Dan Skelton runs two in the race but it’s his ATLANTIC STORM returning from a spell chasing who takes the eye off a lower hurdles mark having already run well over C&D this season.
- Atlantic Storm
- Beach Break
