C&D winner back here in 2016 but hasn't looked the same horse since coming back off an absence this season, beaten too far out for comfort last time. Handicapper helps out and this is easier, but a risky proposition at present.
Had looked moderate until handicap debut over C&D last time out where he almost caused a 33-1 upset, running on well late and might have gone close with a better jump at the last. Up 2lb but they may have found the key now, and has to be considered.
Stays very well and looks on a good hurdles mark compared to his chase win at Punchestown last October (2lb lower here). Should be match fit after a couple of runs this summer and must be on the shortlist for a top team here.
Bits and pieces of promise in novice hurdles but he hasn't yet translated that to handicaps and has been well beaten lately. Hard to see why he should do any better here.
Bit unlucky not to go close here in July (brought down at the last when in with every chance) but that form a standout effort in some otherwise moderate ones. Chance if repeating it but no guarantees of that.
Looks nicely handicapped on best of his form but has been on the downgrade for a while and despite a couple of recent efforts not being disasters, they didn't make him look a winner in waiting either. Others preferred.
Just the one win in 16 starts but these conditions ideal, and she wasn't beaten far over C&D in a similar contest last time. That was a step forward on her previous efforts and another one could see her in the frame, at least.
Just the one win in 28 starts, that coming at Sedgefield over 20f, and although not beaten far at Cartmel last time, this represents a big step up in trip. Hard to make a solid case for.
Well into the veteran stage now but retains his enthusiasm and came out on top at Hexham a couple of starts back. Handicapper had his say after though, and he was well beaten last time. Others make more appeal.
Lightly raced for her age, hasn't shown much but her last couple of efforts haven't been terrible and she may have a bit more to come. This trip on decent ground could be what she needs, so she's not totally written off if finding a bit more.
Forecasts
King's Song (13/8), U Name It (7/2), Lady London (8/1), Solway Lark (8/1), Call Me (11/1), Louloumills (12/1), Baysbrown (14/1), Highland Peak (16/1), Mayze Bell (33/1), Andhaar (40/1)
Solway Lark should go close again after a much better run over C&D last time out, the step up in trip seemingly bringing about plenty of improvement, but once again may have to settle for second best behind KING'S SONG, who looks ready to strike after a couple of warm-up runs and simply looks too well handicapped to ignore. Lady London holds e/w chances and at a likely bigger price, Mayze Bell is worth a glance in the market as well.
- King's Song
- Solway Lark
- Mayze Bell
