Reverts to a more suitable trip after failing to stay over an extended 1m4f at Chester in June; shock winner (20/1) when last competing in this grade at Newmarket in May (1m2f, good to firm), but sits 9lb higher here.
Front runner who continues to improve with racing; edged out in a good battle with Humbolt Central at Redcar last Saturday (1m2f, good to firm) and should be in there pitching for top honours once more.
Hasn't masses of experience, finishing runner-up on her sole handicap start at Leicester recently (1m2f, good to firm), but given her trainer she looks the type to find further improvement; likely player.
Decent turf strike rate (5-12), albeit with the bulk of those figures generated during a productive juvenile campaign; tough to imagine that he's particularly well handicapped, so others rate as more appealing; trainer also saddles Windsor Cross.
Enjoyed an excellent run of form since early June (2,2,1,3,1,5,2) and on balance he's possibly best over this 1m2f trip; raised a further 1lb since finishing a neck second of three to Coolongolook here (1m4f) recently.
Found obvious improvement when racing beyond 1m for the first time at Ripon recently, making all over this trip to score by just under 2L (14/1); raised 5lb, but is the pick of the Fahey-trained duo if able to reproduce.
Streetwise enough to take a 14-runner 6f Newbury maiden on debut in September 2017, but despite his pedigree (half-brother to St.Leger winner Simple Verse) has yet to conclusively prove that he stays this trip; soft ground excuses latest.
Forecasts
Shuhood (3/1), Tight Lines (7/2), Tobruk (7/2), Orange Suit (4/1), Indomeneo (8/1), Ad Libitum (10/1), Windsor Cross (12/1)
The John Gosden-trained Tobruk will be a popular selection, and open to plenty of further improvement she might simply prove better than these rivals. However, she's likely to be well found in the market, and this race is far from a gift. Windsor Cross could also have more to give now that connections have discovered that he stays further than 7f, whilst the admirably tough Ad Libitum is never dismissed lightly. However, Tobruk is taken on with TIGHT LINES who is clearly improving from race to race. She doesn't know how to lie down in the heat of battle and might feasibly be a fraction wiser than the likely market leader.
- Tight Lines
- Tobruk
- Ad Libitum
