Front-running and four-time winning hurdler with his last winning mark being 128 (marks him out as fairly useful). Makes a belated Flat debut at the age of nine but could be dangerous with a soft lead on a sharp track.

Expensive (650,000 guineas yearling) and well-bred sort who has so far had four attempts to break his maiden. Failed to show any improvement last time for being gelded and is in danger of becoming disappointing (not hard to have reservations).

Should improve for his first outing having run to a fair level on his debut over 1m2f at Windsor behind an odds-on favourite. Pedigree looks more about stamina than speed and could well show some progress here.

Half-sister to six winners and having made her debut over 1m2f will appreciate this 2f further trip being stoutly bred. Likely to need this experience again and looks one more for handicaps in the future.

Verdict

This looks an easy opportunity for Loveisili to break his maiden but he was beaten at a very short price last time and is starting to look less than straightforward. This sharp track with a pilot who isn’t familiar with the environs may not be ideal and SPIRIT RIDGE is given the opportunity to build on his promising debut at Windsor; this is a rare runner at the track for her trainer and that maybe a hint we should take. Beeno makes a very belated start to his Flat career but he’s whizzed around off the front over hurdles on sharp tracks like this (he’s twice been placed here over obstacles) and given a soft lead he may be hard to catch.
  1. Spirit Ridge
  2. Beeno
  3. Loveisili
