The most inexperienced runner in the field with just one outing to his name he comes from last year's winning yard. A well-related sort he was easy to back on his debut (seemed to know his job) but ran to just a modest level over 6f; more needed.

Not knocked about on her debut (didn't start well) but showed plenty to work on and improved on her next run when beating a well fancied one at Haydock (6f,made all) in good style. Back to 5f but showed good speed and a leading player.

Won't lack for experience having had four runs and showed up well including in the Newbury Super Sprint before landing a nursery over C&D last time. Well backed she had to dig deep to beat a stablemate; has something to find at these weights.

Not really bred to be a 5f performer she looked green on her debut over C&D and having taken a regressive step when last seen at Ripon also over this trip she has lots to do here. Others are much easier to make a case for.

Verdict

Three of the trainers that have runners here have taken this contest before and it’s the 2014 winner Bryan Smart who is represented by ARMAGEDDON who is taken to win this for a second time. His daughter of War Command looked to have come on a ton for her debut when winning at Haydock showing plenty of pace and this return to 5f shouldn’t be a problem. Deputise looks the main danger having already won twice over this trip although he was a touch disappointing on his nursery debut last time. Diamonique comes from another former winning yard with her trainer Keith Dalgleish having taken the 2016 version, she’s already a C&D winner but has a little work to do at the weights to follow up.
  1. Armageddon
  2. Deputise
  3. Diamonique
