Gained just reward for his consistency when winning at Chepstow on his (raced a little freely; kept on well) off a 3lb lower mark. Has been too keen in his subsequent races at this higher level and has been easily picked off.

Has enjoyed a good summer but handicapper appears to have finally got his measure and he is 0-5 over this trip.

In tremendous form this term winning four times, the latest off 3lb higher. Failed to exploit the same mark on Monday when dropping out tamely and hard to believe that run came too soon if she is turned out again here. Goes up 7lb next week.

Landed an ordinary looking Newbury maiden last autumn in a time suggesting conditions were slower than described. Has faced impossible tasks since on much quicker ground but in calmer waters this time with rain forecast.

Had been on an upward curve until forgetting his lines on handicap debut when too keen in a muddling race. Previous Salisbury run behind Thimbleweed (rated 87) gives him every chance now back in trip for a yard with a 6-15 record here since 2014.

At his most dangerous when allowed to dictate matters from the front and so Bid Adieu could be a spoiler. Landed a Goodwood apprentice race off just 1lb lower so capable if able to gain his favoured track position.

Winner of Newbury amateurs race in June but held twice off this mark since and record shows he is better in lesser company than this.

Forecasts

Orange Suit (3/1), Killdeer (3/1), Bid Adieu (7/2), Danzay (6/1), Rock Icon (7/1), Iconic Belle (11/1), Windsorlot (16/1)

Verdict

Not an easy race to call with Danzay looking nicely weighted but facing competition from Bid Adieu for pacemaking duties. The prospect of a good pace should help KILLDEER who was thwarted by a slow gallop last time but who looks on a fair mark given his previous second to the useful Thimbleweed. Orange Suit faces an easier task than of late but the forecast for rain is a positive, whilst Iconic Belle failed to take advantage of a good mark on Monday and there must be a simple explanation for her to reappear so quickly.
  1. Killdeer
  2. Orange Suit
  3. Danzay
