Given a great tactical ride to open his account (1m6f). Failed to follow up last week when throwing the race away inside the final furlong. Drops in trip with different headgear and trainer has a career 16-56 record here with this age group.

Made all to win a poor race at Kempton and he has had his limitations fully exposed since. Yet to make the frame on turf and hard to fancy.

Won a three-runner race at Salisbury on heavy ground (1m6f) and has since gone well over C&D in a tactical affair won by the improving Timoshenko. Third in an amateurs race since and has a leading chance for a yard in form.

Daughter of Camelot who fetched €80,000 as a yearling and is a half-sister to five winners. Showed a bit more promise last time over 2m and bred to be better suited to this shorter trip. Yard having a stellar year and worth checking in the market.

Master Grey (5/4), Praeceps (11/8), Onefootinfront (9/4), Font Vert (11/2), Angel Carlotta (14/1)

Verdict

Font Vert is readily dismissed given his turf record and how tamely he has folded on his last two starts. A case can be made for the remainder although Onefootinfront faces a tough task under his penalty and Praeceps did not look at all straightforward last week. Angel Carlotta has underachieved but her astute trainer is 15-53 with this age group on turf in 2018 and a market move would be significant. MASTER GREY scored in the mud at Salisbury and the ground was well watered when third at Newbury in better company last time. He has solid C&D form behind an improving sort and that earns him the nod in a tricky race.
  1. Master Grey
  2. Angel Carlotta
  3. Praeceps
