Far from the force he once was but his much reduced mark reflects his current level of ability. Had hinted at a revival on his penultimate start and fared much better again last time; went with zest from the front (down in grade again).
Went the wrong way from his chasing debut and with his stable not quite firing at the moment he has some questions to answer here. Matched his modest hurdles form over fences on his initial start over them; needs to jump better though.
Ended a long losing run off the back of a 7 month break in May over a similar trip but has never been the most consistent. That has proved true enough since although he did manage to squeeze into the frame last time; not one to rely on.
On the back of some modest/unreliable form had come sliding down the handicap finally making use if a much reduced mark when making all over hurdles last time. Now back over fences (up10lb) but still below his last winning mark in this sphere.
Very quirky/moody sort who had been a dual winner in point-to-points (nine wins in that discipline overall) since he was last seen under Rules. Turned in a very moribund performance back under Rules and hard to see any improvement here.
One of the latest of those that have been rejuvenated by a move to this yard (and a wind op); she still looked as quirky as ever when winning on her stable debut. Ran in snatches and not thoroughly convincing despite winning by 5L at Stratford.
Three efforts now since being off the course with a long absence but none of those have been particularly inspiring (over hurdles last time). Starting to become well handicapped but still looks a hard ride (goes in snatches); others make more appeal.
Returns after a wind op and although his record over hurdles is rather mixed his one previous effort over fences gave hope that he could win in this sphere. Jumping was rather shoddy (given a lot to do) and now back off his last winning mark.
Winner on his second chase start after an inauspicious first attempt over then with a first-time tongue-tie appearing to help. Backed that up over C&D last time (ran as well as he had the time before); lightly-raced, may have more to come.
Some of her hurdles form had suggested that she was a little better than her mark and she's run with credit in both starts over fences so far. Improved on her debut last time (bumped into a Skelton improver) in first-time cheekpieces; respected.
Unreliable sort who was fortunate to win his only handicap chase (left clear) last summer off a basement mark. Rather predictably ran poorly last time back in cheekpieces having flirted with a revival the time before; not one that can be recommended.
Lost his way when trained in Ireland and has made little progress to find the right path back to form for his current yard. Went with a little more zest last time over hurdles in this headgear combination; now has to show the same gusto over fences.
Point-to-point record reads 6-24 but even his best form in that sphere is a long time ago. Looks poor nowadays and a last of five on his most recent start with a visor on for the first-time does little to enhance his chance in this.
Forecasts
Massini's Lady (7/4), Little Windmill (13/2), Mr Satco (13/2), Georgina Joy (7/1), Bermeo (10/1), Findusatgorcombe (10/1), Indian Reel (12/1), Generous Chief (12/1), Hardtorock (20/1), Alanjou (25/1), Cinevator (25/1), Mr Mulliner (33/1), Kostaquarta (66/1)
This field looks a little stronger than the one that Massini’s Lady beat up at Stratford last week and a 7lb penalty makes life a little tougher. She still didn’t look the easiest to deal with and there’s a chance that her mood or other quirks will catch up with her here despite the stellar form of the yard with this type. There should be a good pace on here with the likes of Mr Satco and Little Windmill in the field and a gamble is taken that BERMEO can make the benefits of a wind op and this mark count as he returns to fences especially of his jumping is a little more fluent this time. Both Findusatgorcombe and Georgina Joy can also be given a chance having run with promise of late.
- Bermeo
- Findusatgorcombe
- Massini's Lady
