Sprang a 16-1 surprise on debut at Ripon. but beat the favourite and the front pair were clear, so she is very much respected on her return to the track under a penalty.

Has made the frame in four of his first five starts and took a big step forward last time, when beaten just a neck in the Newbury Super Sprint. That is very smart form in the contest of this race and he should prove tough to beat.

100-1 and last of five, beaten 16L on debut. Can only watch.

40-1 and beaten 7½L over this trip at Ripon on debut, when eighth of nine. Another for whom a watching brief looks prudent.

Three Card Trick19

Has produced two very similar efforts, being second in a decent York novices' contest, but then beaten ½L at Ripon, when not improving as anticipated. That is not to say that he can't now kick on, and he will surely be a player here.

Well held in all three starts. Did begin to show signs of improvement at Redcar last time, but looks one to consider when switched to nurseries.

Well behind Three Card Trick when last at York on debut and, although she improved on that at Beverley last time, she looks another to take more seriously in nurseries later in the season.

Showing signs of steady improvement in three runs at Hamilton. None of that form would be nearly good enough to see her get competitive here, so plenty more needed.

Stepped up on her Nottingham debut run with a good effort at Beverley last time, when 1¼L second (5f, good to firm) at 14-1. Likely to be more to come, so would certainly have to be considered among the prize money contenders here.

Half-sister to winners Farook (5f-6f GB turf/UAE dirt), Noble Star (7f AW) and Porto Arabia (Fr 1m1½f). Dam 5f winner at two (inc Listed), half-sister to Group-placed 1m winner Albaasil. Interesting pedigree and from top yard. Market check.

Closely related to 5f-6f winner Dutch Masterpiece (inc at two/Group 3), half-sister to five winners inc Image (7f-1m AW), Hilary J (5f-6f) and Dinneratmidnight (6f). Dam 5f winner at two. Speedy pedigree. Stable 0-4 with juveniles this season.

Love So Deep15
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: P Cosgrave| T: R Hannon
16/1
Beaten 12L at Newbury on debut (6f, good to firm), when never competitive. Improvement probable, but it would be a big step forward from that if she proved up to making a race of it in this line-up.

Forecasts

Three Card Trick (11/4), Moojim (3/1), Golden Circle (4/1), Bartle Hall (5/1), Ginvincible (15/2), Love So Deep (16/1), Heartstring (20/1), Angel Sarah (33/1), Annie's Crook (50/1), The Big House (66/1), Slieve Donard (100/1), Allux Girl (200/1)

Verdict

Bartle Hall caught the eye with that debut win, but it is never easy to win these races under a penalty, especially when you are taking on a gelding who has finished second in a Super Sprint, such as MOOJIM. If he can run to anything like that level of form again today, then Bryan Smart's inmate is the one to beat. Three Card Trick and Ginvincible are the other two with experience to concentrate on, while Golden Circle could make a nice debut.
