Won over C&D in June and was not far off that level under a penalty at Chelmsford next time. Below that level at Haydock since, but this looks easier, and he could easily bounce back.

Had looked a little exposed until winning easily back in maiden company at Catterick last time, where he responded well to a visor. Return to this trip no concern, and he isn't underestimated with headgear retained.

Ran respectably when making the frame in handicaps over shorter at Brighton and Nottingham in May, but disappointed at Haydock last time, and now steps up markedly in trip with a visor tried for the first time. Risky.

Blinkered for the first time, and improved on earlier efforts when 1½L third of 9 to Dr Richard Kimble on handicap debut at Doncaster (1½m) last time. Stayed on well there, and longer trip should suit, so should go close.

Has offered something to work on in a trio of runs over shorter, and this son of a 1¾m winner from a good staying family should do much better now handicapping up in trip. Shortlist material.

Showed promise in maidens at Yarmouth and Doncaster (both 7f) last year, but form has levelled out in handicaps, and latest fourth at Doncaster needs improving upon.

Forecasts

Artarmon (2/1), Elysees (2/1), Cape Liberty (4/1), Moon of Baroda (5/1), Burn Some Dust (6/1), Dazzling Rock (7/1), Grandscape (17/2), Rocky Shores (10/1)

Verdict

DAZZLING ROCK needs to improve a bit on his form to date, but he's bred to relish this trip and further, and appeals as the type to do well in handicaps for his talented trainer. Artarmon improved for the fitting of a visor at Catterick and may yet do better, while Moon of Baroda also ran well in headgear on his handicap debut, and rates the main danger with the strong prospect of more to come.
  1. Dazzling Rock
  2. Moon of Baroda
  3. Artarmon
