Won first three AW starts at Newcastle, and completed the hat-trick on handicap debut in March in game fashion. Failed to beat a rival on turf debut at Newmarket in April, but perhaps he wasn't right there given subsequent absence.
Won on racecourse debut and returned this year with a 5L success at Chepstow (1m, heavy). Disappointed at Goodwood next time, but harsh to judge him on latest run at Ascot when poorly drawn. Bit to prove on balance.
Beat Sevenna Star when taking a C&D novice in September 2017, and bounced back from a modest return when 2¼L second of 8 to Racing Country at Ascot last time. Still unexposed, and much respected.
Improved from debut when winning over 7f on turf at Lingfield in May, and matched that form when winning a novice at Wolverhampton last time. Remains the type to do better now handicapping.
Ran very well when second to Ibraz at Nottingham (1m½f) on penultimate start, and better judged on that effort than latest third at Thirsk. Makes handicap bow off a fair mark, and looks open to significant progress, so must be taken seriously.
Won novices' events at Lingfield (7f) and Chepstow (1m) last season, but has struggled this term despite a falling mark, and no sign of a revival when tried in cheekpieces at Haydock last time.
Forecasts
Kitaabaat (6/4), Ledham (15/8), History Writer (15/2), Casey Jones (8/1), Statuario (9/1), Regimented (14/1)
KITAABAAT was back on track when runner-up at Ascot last time, and his novice win over C&D has worked out well. He's just preferred to History Writer, who looks open to significant progress in handicaps, with Wolverhampton winner Ledham another unexposed improver to keep on side.
