Has improved for switch to handicaps, finishing second at Leicester before winning at Chepstow. Both those runs on a fast surface, and needs to prove he can handle easier ground.

Best effort in qualifying runs when a close fourth to Humbolt Current over C&D last time. Took a keen hold on that occasion, and must settle better to defy a stiff opening mark.

Remains a maiden, although running well back at 1m of late, finishing second at Leicester and third at Bath on last two starts. Doesn't seem to have any secrets from the handicapper, however.

Has run to just a modest level in a trio of qualifying runs, but probably remains open to progress now handicapping, and can't be ruled out despite what appears a harsh enough mark.

Seemed to improve on earlier efforts when 4L fourth of 9 to King's Slipper in a C&D novice last time. Claims if building on that, but chance he's flattered by racing handily in a slowly-run race.

Has run her best races here, most recently when fifth of 13 in a C&D handicap in May. Failed to repeat that form next time, but possible she'll do better back here after a break.

Best efforts have come on heavy ground, winning a novice at Ffos Las in August. Hasn't gone on in handicaps, but fairly treated if ground does deteriorate, and not a forlorn hope.

Forecasts

Makambe (13/8), Barnay (3/1), Choral Music (7/2), Blistering Bob (11/2), Livingstones Quest (13/2), Sounds Approving (7/1), Downtown Mombasa (14/1), Monsieur Fox (25/1)

Verdict

CHORAL MUSIC never wins by far, and may well be ahead of the handicapper despite an 8lb rise for her latest win, and she looks the safest bet with ground conditions immaterial to her. Makambe is unproven on an easy surface, but arrives in good form, and merits respect, while Sounds Approving could well improve for the switch to handicaps, and needs monitoring in the betting.
