Won her last three starts in handicaps last year, including over C&D, and better effort in 2018 when close second to Hats Off To Larry here last time. That form looks solid despite the small field, and she will appreciate any rain which falls.

Won a 1m soft-ground maiden at Ffos Las a year ago, and best effort this season when 7L second of 4 to Scottish Summit at Newmarket last time. More required, but easier ground ought to help.

Gamely made all in a 1m novice at Brighton in May, but couldn't pull off similar tactics on handicap bow at Newmarket. Seemed to benefit from step up to 1m1f when second at Yarmouth last time (Nonios fourth), though, and may do better.

Twice runner-up over C&D prior to winning on easy ground at Chepstow in June. Probably wise to ignore latest substandard run on AW at Wolverhampton, but appears a little high in the weights on the balance of his form.

€260,000 yearling by Quality Road out of a Canadian Grade 1 turf winner. Only minor impact in qualifying runs, but improved to land a 1m handicap here three weeks ago. All out there, so needs to improve if he's to follow up at this longer trip.

Improved when a staying-on third at Lingfield (1½m, AW) in May and backed that up when runner-up at Epsom last time, showing he had the pace to be effective at this trip. A chunk more needed if he's to shed maiden tag, however.

Verdict

There are several improving three-year-olds in the field, and of those, HISTORY WRITER makes most appeal, for all he was a tad disappointing last time. An entry in the Golden Mile at Goodwood shows that he's held in some esteem, and he can justify that faith here. The Emperor Within improved for the step up in trip at Yarmouth and appears to have more to offer, while Oh It's Saucepot has conditions to suit, and should go close again.
