Shakespearean colt bought for €17,000 at the breeze-up sales in May, showed some temperament issues when last of six on debut at Chester this month and watching brief advised now.
Went close at Doncaster on second start and run well in maidens at Leicester and Ripon since while also being outclassed in Listed fare at Royal Ascot, all over 5f. Cheekpieces added and looks a threat to likely favourite.
Half-sister to last year's Gimcrack winner Sands of Mali and smart sprint handicapper Kadrizzi. Holds Lowther entry and made promising start in second at York this month (beaten a neck). Excellent chance here.
Tagula filly cost €2,200 as a yearling then resold for €15,000 as a two-year-old. Market likely to speak more on her chances on debut but will likely need to be above average to make winning start.
Forecasts
Flawless Jewel (1/4), Murqaab (3/1), Pinkie Pie (25/1), Justice Shallow (100/1)
FLAWLESS JEWEL was just inched out on debut at York and is likely to have learned plenty. He holds an entry in the Lowther at York and will likely need to take this if hoping to make his way to the Knavesmire next. Murqaab sets a fair benchmark and has picked up some decent experience already this summer, he should ensure a fair test. Newcomer Pinkie Pie will have to be primed to split the pair while Justice Shallow has plenty to prove after a somewhat temperamental introduction at Chester in May.
- Flawless Jewel
