Lightly-raced under rules, opened account 25 days ago at Uttoxeter on third hurdles start, scoring decisively. Sets the standard on that effort, though is dropping significantly in distance.

Point-to-point form in Ireland was nothing to shout about and easily fended off this month over C&D in a bumper on debut for these connections. More needed switching to hurdles.

Winter Spiceh497
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Tom Cannon| T: J Farrelly
6/1
Rated in the high 70s at peak on the Flat, though scored just once in 20 starts. Returns from near 500 days off for hurdling bow and market likely the best guide.
5
Horse silk
66/1
Modest maiden on the Flat who has shown very little either start over hurdles in recent months and is therefore hard to make a case for in this event.

Cora Sundrop47
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-5| J: R Johnson| T: W Greatrex
3/1
Kayf Tara mare, showed promise in bumpers despite signs of inexperience at times. Switches to hurdles and has Richard Johnson again to assist. Likely improver.

Tongue-tie is added today but very few positives gleaned from two starts over hurdles so far, including here, and looks best watched for now.
Maiden point-to-point mare bought cheaply last month by current connections for just £2,500 and well beaten in two runs since at this track.

Yet to get competitive in pair of novice/maiden hurdle events this summer at Ffos Las, both over 2m4f. Drops in distance but has work to do.

Forecasts

Drovers Lane (1/3), Cora Sundrop (3/1), Winter Spice (6/1), Great Fairy (10/1), Nowheretoexit (25/1), Buddy Lightning (25/1), Morehurrylesshaste (33/1), Thomas Crown (66/1), Little Welshcake (100/1)

Verdict

DROVERS LANE drops back in distance having scored in good enough fashion at Uttoxeter on third start over timber. This trip should be fine and the Rebecca Curtis-trained gelding sets a decent standard to aim at. Cora Sundrop is a likely improver now facing hurdles and any strong support for the mount of the champion jockey would be noted while useful Flat performer Winter Spice is also worth noting on first outing over jumps despite a long absence.
