Flopped on last month's chase debut but respected on latest hurdling form. Looks fully loaded off his current mark though and has an inexperienced rider on board.
Landed a Tramore maiden beating a 96-rated rival by a neck off level weights. The same horse won a handicap by a nose off 97 next time so hard to see how he warrants a mark this high and his latest run proves that. Cheekpieces need to have an impact
Winner of five races including two here. Yet to score from a mark above 99 so needs to improve further.
Winner of a Gowran Park maiden hurdle last summer and has had two runs back from a year's absence. Seemed to be going the right way last time, but a line through the winner still gives her a lot to find with Castle Howard.
Third in a Down Royal race that has been working out nicely and which suggests he is well treated. Has been improving with experience and is definitely shortlist material.
Would have had a good chance of making the frame last week but for falling two out. That form still does not look good enough here.
Back to back winner on first two starts for this yard during the winter. Had a spin at the Curragh on Saturday, but it has been a long while since she was competitive from this sort of mark.
Last win over hurdles came off a higher mark. Suited to these conditions and arrives in good form from the Flat. Notable jockey booking and of definite interest for an in-form yard.
Unlucky to bump into a gambled on winner here 12 days ago, but emerged with credit having got the better of a tussle for second. Still has work to do at these weights, but heading in the right direction.
His sole win in 32 starts came off a mark of 82 and two of his best runs since have come off similar ratings to today's. Hard to see him winning given his record, but also difficult to rule out another podium finish.
Forecasts
Castle Howard (7/4), Rio Lobo (9/2), Torquay (7/1), Fleurys Fort (7/1), An'ball (7/1), Coole Craft (10/1), Black Label (14/1), Comehere Hi (14/1), Roja Dove (25/1), Brogine (33/1)
The McManus/O'Brien/Geraghty partnership have strong claims here with Castle Howard who improved last time in a race that has been working out well. He looks to be on the right side of the handicapper, unlike Rio Lobo, Fleurys Fort and Roja Dove, but faces another nicely weighted rival in BLACK LABEL. The booking of Jack Kennedy seems a significant move given some fair recent form on the Flat and a hurdling mark 3lb lower than his last success in this sphere.
- Black Label
- Castle Howard
- Coole Craft
