Winner of a Kilbeggan handicap chase on Tuesday landing the spoils in good style with a 6½L advantage. Quickly turned out carrying just 4lb extra. Another bold show looks likely.

Second of seven when beaten a neck in a Down Royal beginners chase appears to be a complete one-off. First time cheekpieces inconceivable to produce the required amount of development needed to play a role here.

Will have disappointed connections in a series of dismal displays towards the end of last year. Unlikely to see any improvement on seasonal debut.

Forecasts

William Du Berlais (15/8), Glenwood For Ever (3/1), Justmemyselfandi (5/1), Rolling Revenge (11/2), Burndown (6/1), Dont Kick Nor Bite (6/1), Cloudy Morning (25/1), Quiet Account (25/1), Archie Meade (33/1)

Verdict

In good form and appearing to be enjoying his racing at the moment WILLIAM DU BERLAIS is taken to land the opener following a couple of promising performances culminating in a 6½L win at Killarney on Tuesday. The gelding carries 4lb extra for his win but that may not be enough to stop the seven-year-old seeing off the attentions of the luckless Glenwood For Ever and potential improver Burndown.
  1. William Du Berlais
  2. Glenwood For Ever
  3. Burndown
