Has endured several wind operations over the years but still retains ability and is feasibly well treated from 6lb below his last winning mark. Been under the knife for wind surgery in the last month and needs to run better than last time though.

Capable on his day but has a bit to find with Dandy Highwayman after their encounter at York but is dropping in the weights and may appreciate this smaller field. The market can guide.

A winner of a seller at Thirsk in May but not so good back in a handicap (behind Dandy Highwayman at York) and his limitations are plain to see in this sphere. Place claims if at his best.

First start over this trip since his racecourse bow as a juvenile but shapes as if this may be a good policy after fading over 7f last time. One to bear in mind if the market shows him in a positive light.

Very well handicapped on old form but has seemingly lost his way a tad of late. Also off-putting that he's 0-16 on turf and comes into this after a disappointing run at Musselburgh at the start of this month.

Loves this C&D and has hinted at a return to form of late; so not without a chance on the pick of his efforts. Also notable that he's 9lb below his last winning mark, so makes the shortlist despite having form to reverse with Grandad World.

Dual course winner (last of which was over C&D from a mark of 90 three years ago) but has been very expensive to follow since. Did post a good effort under Paul Hanagan here last month, so has sound enough claims if able to repeat the dose today.

Forecasts

Etikaal (2/1), Ninjago (5/2), Grandad's World (4/1), Rantan (10/1), Full Intention (11/1), Dandy Highwayman (11/1), Cosmic Chatter (12/1)

Verdict

Most of these have become unreliable and only a speculative punt is recommended on DANDY HIGHWAYMAN being able to repeat the form he showed at York last month. The gelding had a couple of these well held on that occasion and ought to be on the premises if in the same frame of mind. The enigmatic Grandad's World has flattered to deceive on numerous occasions and isn't one for maximum faith. But he gets on well with Paul Hanagan and has to merit consideration from the foot of the handicap. Cosmic Chatter loves this course and also enters calculations when the pick of his efforts are considered. Rantan completes the shortlist.
  1. Dandy Highwayman
  2. Grandad's World
  3. Cosmic Chatter
