Course winner who spent the winter unsuccessfully in Dubai but ran better than for some time on his penultimate start over 1m here on soft. Still looked in decent form last time out in a claimer but more needed here back in a handicap.

Conditions will be very different to when he gained his last win at Pontefract (1m2f, heavy) off a 4lb higher mark. Outing on the AW/turf this year suggest that whilst he's running with relative credit he's not on his best form and more is needed.

Looked far from the finished article when winning on debut (7f, Tapeta) early in the year from a trio of next time out winners. Hasn't quite lived up to that promise since then switched turf the last twice and now makes his handicap debut; visor on.

Dual AW winner who 0-7 on turf (twice placed) who looked as though he was back to some sort of form at Bath (1m, firm) last time. Looked as though he was struggling for pace there and will appreciate a return to this longer trip.

Arguably better at Ayr (both wins there) and with some give in the ground he hasn't been disgraced this year running well over C&D last time. That looked quite a hot race for the grade (three next time out winners) and he's respected in this.

Made a promising return this year and has built on that the last twice winning on the AW and here over 1m (under a penalty last time; looked progressive). Value for more than the 3L winning margin last time with the form franked already.

Forecasts

Where's Jeff (1/1), We Are The World (10/3), Chinese Spirit (7/1), Good Boy Alfie (9/1), Royal Shaheen (10/1), Fivehundredmiles (18/1)

Verdict

There was an awful lot to like about the win of WHERE'S JEFF here last time over 1m when he could have doubled the winning distance of 3L and despite the rise in the weights and grade plus a slightly longer trip he should complete a hat-trick. That form has already been franked by the wins of the 2nd and 7th. Chinese Spirit would be more of a threat on a softer surface but there’s no denying he’s run well this year and his last race contained three last time out winners while We Are The World can be given a chance back over this longer trip. Good Boy Alfie is an intriguing handicap debutante having won on his debut but has still looked inexperienced on his last two starts; visor now on.
